The Minnesota Twins had played baseball indoors for decades, due to the Twin Cities’ harsh winters and the fact that they shared a stadium with the Minnesota Vikings. But, in 2010, that was all going to change. The Twins had plans for a new, state-of-the art, outdoor ballpark right in the middle of downtown Minneapolis. The stadium was set to frame the city over the outfield wall, and would use as much locally-sourced material from the state as possible—including black spruce trees in the outfield and limestone for the outer and inner field walls trucked in from Northern Minnesota.
