MetLife Stadium, New York Giants + New York Jets
New York, New York
MetLife Stadium (formerly New Meadowlands Stadium) situated just outside the nation’s largest and most culturally diverse city is not only the largest stadium in the league (in terms of seating capacity), but also the only NFL stadium home to two teams, the New York Jets and New York Giants. This presented a new challenge – how to infuse the team brand into a facility that plays home to two very different teams.
Infinite Scale approached this challenge from two points of view: one, how to create an interchangeable system capable of this metamorphosis, and two, how to treat each team uniquely based on the team brand. Infinite Scale created a universal hardware system to tackle the first challenge, and the system was put to the test the first week of the NFL season, seeing the graphics change from a morning Sunday game for the Giants to a Monday Night Football game for the Jets – a transition complete in less than twelve hours.
Everything from the locker rooms to the banners systems around the exterior to the field walls was designed to uphold the team’s brand on game day. For the Jets the design was focused on a contrail concept, invoking the Jetstream and speed of their team name, this system enveloped current players and created an ominous look. For the Giants the look was a classic, color-blocked, and striped system reminiscent of the bold and simple look of the team. The result is a system that is completely transformative, giving each team the feeling of having a home stadium of its own.
